Sorry we weren't clear - the donation Aimee eluded to is to help her and Dane go to the Mongol Rally, not for Tuesday Night Dinners.

how can we make this recurring?

How about everyone brings one or more items that make up a 'food parcel' to every Tuesday Night? Then someone gathers them, puts them into parcels, and delivers them.

I am for the 'moving TND' concept. Only thing better would be if someone else took it on permanently which doesn't sound likely. I would be willing to contribute our kitchen to the cause, but it is small and in J ville. And I do agree with the person who said that keeping it in CBD would be more successful. If we could set up some kind of roster on the website where people could sign up to host a particular Tuesday, whether just once or regularly, that could work.

I do also like the idea of getting us all into a soup kitchen or other such event on an irregular basis.

In any case, I do dearly hope we are able to keep Tuesday Night Dinners going. Wellington wouldn't be the same without it.

What Bella (and others) said :) TND will be sorely missed as the combination of that awesome space, your generosity Mike, and the consistency of an every-Tuesday-at-the-same-place thing. Pieces of that should continue as much as possible, of course. Some good ideas above.

Maybe a more specialized splintering would be good. Keep the lines of communication open and I'm sure the vibe will continue.

Or we could just keep showing up at Tory Street and pretending that you're still there. That would be _really_ funny.

Thanks, Mike. Truly.

Mike, you've done more for Wellington than you can possibly imagine! I (and everyone else who's *ever* Tuesday-Night-Dined) am deeply grateful and thoroughly inspired. And not just inspired by your food, but by your attitude, your hosting powers of cool, and the way you've created an institution that brings out the best in everyone who comes to it: sharing, conviviality, altruism, trustworthiness, warmth and creativity.

I firmly believe we can take the proud Welly institution that is TND and carry it onwards, Tuesday after Tuesday, without a break. The odds of getting a new tenant for Moutain Safety House who can take over as TND host are slim - and frankly, taking over from you, in the old venue, as Host of TNDs is an intimidatingly big pair of (metaphorical!) shoes for someone to fill.

So - huzzah for a rotating TND! I'm already thinking how I can extend the yacht-galley-sized kitchen at my house to accommodate a crowd of TNDers... barbeque on the balcony... neighbours' hot-plate... camp stoves in the courtyard...

That said, I also thoroughly endorse the charity cooking idea as an irregular thing and your Eat So They Can initiative was a damn good idea. A combination soup kitchen / Communiteas initiative might be an option too...

So, congratulations Mike. And thankyou.

Get a Tuesday night member or 2 to move in to the Tory St. flat and continue the tradition - the easy option continuing the legacy of comfortable and familiar surroundings and CBD location.
Permanent floating parties may seem attractive but unless they're in the CBD may quickly dissolve the movement and tradition?
