“large Bintang please”

Hot and sweaty, walking the steets in Ubud, Bali I’m lured into Pundi Pundi by the smell of the BBQ smoke and the promise of free WiFi.
“large Bintang please”
I’m sure I’ve consumed more than my own body weight of Bintang, the local beer, this week. Which must be healthier than our [...]

Paddy’s Day and Special Announcement

Hi
Tuesday is Paddy’s Day so it would be rude not to do Mexican… I mean Irish. Yep, the food is not great but i’m sure we will compensate with some good yarns.
And, this is advanced warning - next week is the 10th Birthday of Tuesday Night Dinners. So please, come along and celebrate a decade [...]

I knew I needed more than one napkin…

The sign said NO BYO liquor or food. That could only mean one thing they’re selling food and liquor here, $2 entry, sure. With a red paid stamp on my wrist I wandered into the Busker Comedy Club hungry, very hungry, I went straight out the opposite entrance, where people were getting stamped on the [...]

Edamame, Beers and [...]

I watched the stalls for a while before fumbling my way through a lunch order. A confused smile [...]

The European, Melbourne

I remembered it was somewhere on Spring Street from a previous visit. It’s small so the first time I walked past it because I was distracted by a wine shop, the second time I walked past it was because I was distracted by the woman in the wine shop. So I popped into The Hotel [...]

I just found an oasis in the cultural dessert of Christchurch

I’ve just visited Petrini’s in Ferrymead and bought fresh wild Porcini, dried Morels, Jamon Iberico, Buche du Chevre, Roquefort, Tellagio, Baguette and vin de table…
So, when I get home I will raid the garden and cook up a storm.
The only thing I’ve put in my mouth that made me smile is a chilli chocolate ganache [...]
