Hiya
This week Peter and Mark have kindly offered to host Tuesday Night Dinner. From what I hear it’s getting colder in Wellington. It’s been getting cold here in London - a welcome relief from FREEZING!
Melissa is making a special appearance and she also chose the theme: Comfort Food.
The instructions to get in are, for some*, challenging so here they are again.
Apartment 16,
26 Marion St
Marion street apartments
Te Aro / Cuba Quarter
Door code is 1369 “in”…
Then buzz apartment #16…
We will let you in the second door, take the lift to level 3 and come through the car park to the far corner, #16.
Have fun
Mike
* I’ve got lost more than once : )
Hola
After last week’s small, but extremely entertaining, Tuesday Night Dinner, in Madrid - Brian is hosting again this week. Here’s his invitation:
Tuesday Night Dinner is happening again at my place this week. The theme is ‘Spanish dinners’ so please bring some food to share and it will be ‘Pot luck’ as to what we get!
Cheers,
Brian
There were no volunteers to host this week’s Tuesday Night Dinner in Wellington, however next week and the week after are booked.
Have fun!
Mike
Hola
This is a special week for Tuesday Night Dinner - the first dinner in Madrid. So, to celebrate, I’m jumping on a plane and flying to Spain for Tuesday Night Dinner. And, in Wellington, Kelly and Daniel have kindly offered to host again.
Here’s the invitation from Brian:
Hi all
Commencing next week, is the first of the series of Tuesday Night Dinners in Madrid. Let’s celebrate what has to be the last of the bad weather and welcome what is going to be an amazing Summer!
So how does this work? Well someone volunteers to host, so I will at my small apartment in Charmartin:
The idea is that it is a potluck dinner, so please bring a dish to share and perhaps something to drink - I heard the wine is fantastic here. Please be mindful that my apartment is small, and the kitchen is even smaller, but you are welcome to prepare the dish here which is part of the fun (I don’t have an oven). Anyone is welcome to come, so invite someone who you think might like the idea. I know that 730pm for dinner is too early by Spanish standards, but it is a week night and I want to respect my neighbors.
Oh and the important part. To help you to get ideas of what to bring, the dinner will have theme which will be announced next Monday via the website:
http://tuesdaynightdinners.org.nz/
Do get in touch if you have any questions - my number is 879 3494 - otherwise I’ll see you next Tuesday.
Cheers,
Brian
Ps. For the out-of-towners, perhaps you want to forward this on to someone who may wish to attend?
Here’s the invitation from Kelly and Daniel:
Hola
To sync with you, the theme will be “Cuisine of the Community of Madrid“.
Have fun
Mike
Good morning ladies and gentlemen
This week we have a spiffing theme genrerously hosted by Lady Ashley, from the Americas, and Lord Rhys.
Here’s there cordial invitation:
Rhys and Ashley invite you to a night of finery, exquisite taste and jolly good times. Our theme is “Posh Nosh.”
What is the Queen eating for a midnight snack? What does Prince Andrew indulge in whilst not philandering? What would the folks inhabiting Downtown Abbey cast down their gullets if they were in Mt Victoria in 2013?
Who knows but try and take a guess and bring it.
We have a wee kitchen with no microwave so dishes prepped ahead of time may just earn you a knighthood.
Huzzah!
Mike
Hola from Lisbon
It’s warm and sunny, the food is good, the coffee is great and there’s lots to see.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to explore so many amazing cities.
This week’s dinner is kindly hosted by Daniel and Kelly, here’s your invitation:
Theme this week is “Thanksgiving”. as US expats, we miss our big harvest feast. what foods make you feel thankful?
Have fun
Mike
p.s. I’m thankful people like you host dinner every Tuesday
p.p.s. when do you want to host?
Hiya
Chances are if you’re reading this email you’re prone to playing with your food, as I am…
This week Amy has kindly asked that you play with your food on Tuesday, at her place, here’s her invitation.
Hi All,
In 2 weeks time I will be on my way to Africa! I am volunteering to build playgrounds in Uganda, so the theme for dinner this week is ‘PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD’. This can mean whatever you like, food that is fun to play with, a playful use of ingredients or food that looks fun.
As part of the evening I will be auctioning off all of my paintings and drawings and all of the money will go toward the cost of my trip. So think of someone you could buy a picture for; your Mums birthday, your anniversary or that empty spot on the wall…. Its for a great cause!
My address is 164 Derwent Street, Island Bay (near Shorland park)
See you there!
And, like you need any encouragement, here’s an inspirational image from Amy.

Have fun
Mike
Wah! Summer? I was excited today when the temperature got into high single digits!
…oh… Hi!
The theme this week is “The Fall of Summer” (The best summer I remember since I was a boy - which was a while ago - and I missed most of it!) Anywho.
Peter and Mark are hosting this week - here are your instructions:
Remember: Peter is Pescatarian so swimming things, or plant things, are preferrable (my note - not his ; )…
I’m missing Tuesday Night Dinners terribly - obviously I’m eating and drinking well - so it’s obviously the people I miss.
Have fun
Love ME
p.s. just had a great weekend in Budapest - here are the publishable pics
Sziasztok from Hungary!
Here the snow is melting, the local food and wine is delicious and the hot pools are hot (unlike England where they are mildly warm).
This week Simon and Ruth are hosting Tuesday Night Dinner. Here’s the brief from Simon:
It’s the changing of the seasons so Ruth and Simon thought "Fusion Food" would be the theme.
Please come and join us at 9 Mana Street, Vogeltown.
Plenty of street parking just past the Mana St sign or on Krull St. If you’re catching the bus get the #7 Kingston and jump off by the pedestrian crossing on Mills Rd. Walk down Fortunatus St to Mana St.
Regards,
SIMON
Have a Hoppy Easter
Mike
ps. please email the date you want to host.
Yes, with a big smile, I’m wishing you a happy birthday for Tuesday Night Dinner’s 14th Birthday.
I’m wishing you a happy birthday because I’m still on the other side of the world and you’ve kept Tuesday Night Dinners going for the last 14 years.
This week Michele has kindly offered to host dinner in her home. As always, for a Tuesday Night Dinner birthday, the theme is Mexican.
For everyone in London - it seems a crime to let this slip buy without a suitable celebration - let’s get together on Tuesday and make this the first Bi-polar Tuesday Night Dinner Birthday.
Cheers
Mike
p.s. this is a great idea from the team that bought us Eat So They Can - Chickens for Change - buy a chook for only $13 USD (about $15 NZD)
Hola!
It made me smile to hear that Liz’s boys asked to host Tuesday Night Dinner. Here’s the invite from Liz:
Hey everyone.
Birthday Tuesday this week at our place. Edan is turning 6 years old this Tuesday the 12 march and he would like to host Tuesday dinner. The theme is “FIRE” considering there is a fire ban, a comet hanging out at present, Edan was born in Valencia Spain during the festival of “fallas” and his name means small fire in Celtic, it is very appropriate.
As usual bring a plate and drinks to share. Help with tidy up appreciated.
Hasta mañana
Liz
Happy Birthday Edan
Mike
p.s. fire to me means chilli!
